Png opposition says it may challenge 2017 budget for not providing adequate resources
The US has issued an alert that Venezuela will begin an audit of foreign aid programs as early as the 2016 budget.
According to a statement released by US embassy in Caracas, the US embassy “will begin immediately” an audit of all federal and state funds “that did not meet the criteria of the24 시 출장 government of Venezuela.”
The US did not say what criteria would apply to federal funds and how many dollars were subject to such a review.
Venezuela is struggling against a severe food shortage and a soaring number of murders of human rights activists and police officials. The country’s congress last year passed a law authorizing the use of armed forces against protestors.
At the same time, a US$3.8 billion aid package was presented to Venezuela in November 2012 that included $1.9 billion in international development assistance and more than $60 million in loans.
The opposition and local businesses have launched a nationwide protest to demand $18.8 billion for the food assistance program.
